Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ATS Scanner Pro ("we", "our", "the service") is operated by Kartikeya Mishra. This policy explains what data is collected when you use our free resume scanning service, how it is processed, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023 and the EU GDPR where applicable.

Core principle: We never store your resume or any personal information from it.

2. Data We Collect

Resume file: Received, parsed in memory, then immediately discarded. Never written to disk or database.

Job description: Used only to compute your ATS match score within the request lifecycle. Not stored.

Anonymized telemetry: We log your ATS score, letter grade, and role category (not your name or resume content) to Firestore for product analytics.

IP address: Used for rate limiting (8 scans per 10 minutes) in server memory only. Never written to a database.

3. PII Removal Before AI Processing

Before any resume text is sent to Google's Gemini AI model, our server-side PII Stripper automatically removes:

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers (all formats including +91, international)
  • LinkedIn and GitHub profile URLs
  • Physical and postal addresses
  • Indian Aadhaar numbers (12-digit)
  • PAN card numbers
  • Other personal URLs and social handles

The text sent to Gemini contains only professional content: skills, work experience descriptions, education details, and certifications.

4. Third-Party Services

Google Gemini API: PII-stripped resume text is sent to Google's Gemini 1.5 Flash for analysis. Google's AI usage policy applies. Your data is NOT used to train AI models.

Firebase / Google Cloud: Anonymized scan telemetry (score, grade, role) is stored in Firestore. No personal data.

Upstash Redis: Anonymized results are cached for up to 24 hours using a SHA-256 hash key. No personal data stored.

Google AdSense: We display ads to keep this service free. AdSense may set cookies. Opt out at g.co/adssettings.

Vercel: Hosting platform. Access logs may be collected per Vercel's DPA.

5. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access information about how your data is processed (this policy fulfils that right)
  • Correction of inaccurate data (we hold no personal data, so generally not applicable)
  • Erasure of personal data (since we don't store personal data, no action is needed)
  • Nominate a person to exercise rights on your behalf
  • File a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India (dpboard.gov.in)

6. Cookies

ATS Scanner Pro does not set any first-party cookies. Google AdSense may set third-party cookies for advertising personalization. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.

7. Data Retention
